Here’s yet another “test animation“. There are quite a few flaws that I’m aware of and I’ll be sure to beware of them when working on OPAD.

Dave is the founder of Head Rush Films, a professional entertainer/magician/clown by trade, professional musician, having traveled with a singing group and recorded on a national label. He has been in film, theatre and enetertainemnt all his life so making the transition to writer director of a low budget film company was an easy move.

Head Rush Films have recently finished a low budget short film CRAZY, a supernatural thriller which is on amazon.com and has just been submitted to the Sandhills film festival.

Designing a logo

To design a logo, first you need to come up with a good design idea. You can look at other companies’ logos, browse various various graphic design blogs or seek inspiration in other places. (Be aware that seeking inspiration doesn’t equal stealing ideas.)

While building my own portfolio, I want to focus on the design, rather than creating a whole company branding. That’s why I use variation of Lorem Ipsum for my fictive company name and then I only think of the industry this company is working in.

In this particular example, I’m going to create a logo for Lorem Industries, I have a rough idea what the company does, it could be a construction company.

My idea was to use tools a builder would use for work to create the main piece of the logo. This would be accompanied by a snappy company motto.

It’s always good idea to sketch out your design before you start working on it. Here’s what my sketch looks like:

I needed some reference photos to create the tools. There are many good sites to turn to when you need free photos and other imagery, such as www.sxc.hu.

I’ll cover creating a drawing from a photograph in future posts.

After all letters of “Lorem” are assembled, I’m going to add “Industries” below.
